Baccarat Procedures

Baccarat is played with eight decks of cards in a shoe. Cards valued less than ten are valued at their printed number while at the same time 10, J, Q, K are 0, and A are each given a value of 1. Bets are placed on the ‘banker,’ the ‘player’ or for a tie (these aren’t actual contenders; they merely act as the 2 hands to be dealt).

Two hands of two cards will now be dealt to the ‘banker’ as well as ‘player’. The total for any hand shall be the sum of the two cards, but the very first digit is dumped. For eg, a hand of 7 and five results in a total score of 2 (sevenplusfive=12; drop the ‘one’).

A third card can be given depending on the foll. rules:

- If the gambler or banker has a total of eight or 9, then both players stand.

- If the player has 5 or less, he/she hits. bettors stand otherwise.

- If player stands, the banker hits of five or less. If the bettor hits, a chart is used to ascertain if the banker stands or hits.

Baccarat Odds

The bigger of the two scores is the winner. Winning wagers on the banker pay out nineteen to 20 (even odds less a five % commission. Commission is monitored and cleared out when you leave the table so ensure that you have funds remaining before you leave). Bets on the player that end up winning pay one to one. Winner bets for tie typically pays eight to one and occasionally nine to one. (This is a bad wager as ties will occur less than one every 10 hands. Run away from putting money on a tie. Even so odds are far better – nine to one versus eight to one)

Played accurately, baccarat provides fairly good odds, apart from the tie bet of course.

Baccarat Strategy

As with many games, Baccarat has some well-known myths. One of which is very similar to a misconception of roulette. The past is surely not a predictor of future results. Keeping track of past results on a chart is for sure a total waste of paper … an insult to the tree that gave its life to be used as our stationary.

The most common and probably most successful technique is the 1-3-two-6 technique. This process is used to increase wins and limiting risk.

commence by gambling one unit. If you win, add one more to the two on the table for a total of 3 on the 2nd bet. If you win you will have six on the table, remove four so you have two on the 3rd wager. If you win the third wager, add 2 to the four on the table for a sum of six on the 4th wager.

If you lose on the initial bet, you take a loss of one. A win on the first bet quickly followed by loss on the 2nd brings about a loss of two. Wins on the first two with a loss on the 3rd gives you a profit of two. And wins on the first 3 with a loss on the fourth mean you break even. Winning at all four bets leaves you with twelve, a profit of 10. This means that you can fail to win the second bet 5 times for every successful streak of four bets and still break even.
