Baccarat Standards

Baccarat is played with eight decks of cards in a shoe. Cards which are valued less than ten are of their printed value whereas ten, J, Q, K are 0, and A are each applied a value of 1. Wagers are placed on the ‘banker,’ the ‘player’ or for a tie (these aren’t actual people; they merely depict the two hands to be given out).

2 hands of two cards shall then be played to the ‘banker’ as well as ‘player’. The total for any hand shall be the total of the two cards, but the first digit is dumped. For example, a hand of seven as well as five gives a score of two (sevenplusfive=12; drop the ‘1′).

A 3rd card may be dealt depending on the foll. protocols:

- If the bettor or banker has a total of eight or nine, each bettors stand.

- If the bettor has five or less, he hits. Players stand otherwise.

- If gambler stands, the banker hits of five or lower. If the player hits, a chart might be used to determine if the banker stands or hits.

Baccarat Odds

The larger of the two scores will be the winner. Successful bets on the banker pay 19 to twenty (even money less a five percent commission. Commission is followed closely and paid out when you leave the table so make sure you have $$$$$ left before you leave). Winning bets on the player pay one to 1. Winner bets for tie usually pay out eight to 1 but on occasion nine to one. (This is a terrible gamble as ties occur less than one every 10 hands. Avoid betting on a tie. Regardless odds are positively better – nine to one vs. eight to 1)

Played correctly, baccarat presents pretty good odds, away from the tie bet of course.

Baccarat Strategy

As with all games, Baccarat has some established myths. 1 of which is close to a roulette myth. The past is not a predictor of future happenings. Monitoring of historic outcomes on a chart is a waste of paper as well as a slap in the face for the tree that gave its life to be used as our stationary.

The most common and probably most successful strategy is the one-3-2-6 technique. This method is deployed to magnify successes and reducing risk.

commence by betting one unit. If you win, add one more to the 2 on the table for a total of 3 on the second bet. If you win you will have 6 on the table, take away 4 so you have two on the third gamble. If you win the 3rd bet, add two to the four on the table for a total of 6 on the 4th gamble.

If you lose on the 1st bet, you take a loss of 1. A win on the first bet quickly followed by loss on the 2nd brings about a loss of 2. Wins on the first two with a loss on the third gives you a profit of two. And wins on the first 3 with a loss on the 4th mean you break even. Coming out on top on all four bets leaves you with twelve, a profit of 10. Thus you can fail to win the 2nd bet 5 times for every successful streak of four bets and still break even.
